SSTR2 is a receptor for somatostatin, widely expressed in the central nervous system, pancreas, adrenal gland and gastrointestinal tract. Activation of SSTR2 mediates Gi downstream signaling, regulating hormone secretion and cell proliferation. SSTR2 is an important target for neuroendocrine tumor drug discovery.
