AVPR2 (Arginine Vasopressin Receptor 2) is a Protein Coding gene belonging to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, predominantly expressed in renal collecting duct cells. Its ligand arginine vasopressin (AVP/ADH) activates Gs signaling, increasing cAMP and promoting aquaporin-2 (AQP2) membrane translocation to enhance water reabsorption. Diseases associated with AVPR2 include X-linked recessive Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI), and its antagonist tolvaptan is used clinically for hyponatremia and heart failure.
